Choosing the right water filtration or management system
| Requirement | Recommended system | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Small-volume contaminated water filtration | AS200 | Compact standalone two-stage filtration |
| Higher-volume contaminated water filtration | AS300 | Three-stage filtration with pressure monitoring |
| Contaminated water with heavier solids/debris | AS300CG | Additional coarse filtration protects downstream filters |
| Integrated heated water + wastewater management for decon | SW50L | One fresh-water pump and one wastewater pump |
| Higher-throughput or multiple shower chambers | SW120L | Large heated-water capacity and dual wastewater pumps for independent drainage |
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need a water treatment system, not just a decontamination shower?
A decontamination shower removes contamination from workers and equipment, but the wastewater produced can itself be contaminated. A suitable water treatment system is used to collect and filter that wastewater before it is discharged or disposed of in accordance with site and local authority requirements. Filtered water should not be assumed to be automatically suitable for stormwater or sewer discharge the applicable disposal requirements still need to be followed.
What does 'filters to 1 micron' actually mean?
It means the system uses staged filtration down to a 1-micron final filter, removing very fine suspended particles from contaminated water rather than just visible sediment. This helps capture asbestos-containing material and fibres carried in the wastewater before further disposal or discharge in accordance with site requirements.
Who needs one of these systems?
Any contractor who needs to collect and filter contaminated water during asbestos, mould or hazardous-material work. That can include wastewater from decontamination showers, equipment wash-down, ponded water, sumps or other contaminated water within the work area. The right system depends on the water volume, contamination load and required flow rate.
What's the difference between the AS300 and AS300CG?
The AS300CG adds an additional coarse filtration stage ahead of the main filters, giving it a 4-stage filtration setup better suited to wastewater with heavier solids or debris. It also includes manometer monitoring to help track filter loading. An optional proximity/level sensor can also be added to automatically start and stop the pump as the water level changes, reducing the need for manual operation. The standard AS300 remains a strong choice for general contaminated-water filtration where the extra coarse stage and automatic pump control are not required.
Do I need a dual-pump system?
Not always. A single wastewater pump is suitable for many standard setups. Dual wastewater pumps are most useful where multiple shower chambers or wastewater pickup points need to be managed independently. The advantage is that one empty chamber cannot cause the system to suck air and reduce suction from the chamber that still contains water. This gives more reliable drainage, less manual intervention and fewer operational headaches. For higher-throughput or multi-chamber decontamination setups, the SW120L is the preferred option because of its dual wastewater pump design.
How often do filters need replacing?
This depends on water volume and contamination load. Follow the manufacturer's service schedule and watch for reduced flow as an early sign filters need changing.
Are spare parts and filters available locally?
Yes, contact our team for current stock on filters and spares for your model.
How long do these systems typically last?
There is no fixed service life. These are German-made industrial systems built for repeated professional use, and with proper cleaning and maintenance they can remain in service for many years. Filters are consumable items, while pumps, heaters, hoses, seals and other components can be serviced or replaced as required. If something does fail, DeconSafe provides local support, repairs and access to genuine spare parts, so you are not left stranded with an unsupported machine.
Can I hire a water treatment system?

How quickly can a system be delivered?
Delivery times vary by model and stock on hand. Contact our team with your required date and we'll confirm what's achievable.
