Husqvarna Dust Extractors & Air Cleaners: Buying Guide for Silica Dust Control

Quick summary

The right Husqvarna dust extractor depends on your tool. Choose the DE 110 H (225 m³/h) for hand-held tools and small grinders, the DE 120 H (380 m³/h) for hand and mid-size floor grinders, and the DE 130 H (415 m³/h, Auto-Pulse) for all-day floor grinding with large planetary grinders. Add an A 25 or A 45 air cleaner to clean the room air, and a C 3000 or C 5500 pre-separator for heavy dust volumes.

Grinding, cutting, coring and shot blasting concrete and stone release fine silica dust that you can't see and that stays airborne for hours. The most effective way to control it is to capture it at the source, before it reaches the operator's breathing zone.

Husqvarna dust extractors and air cleaners are built to do exactly that. They capture airborne particles directly from grinders, saws, shot blasters and other dust-generating equipment, while helping remove residual dust from the surrounding work area. In this guide, the team at DeconSafe Solutions explains the full Husqvarna dust and slurry range, how to match an extractor to your tool, and what Australian silica rules mean for your equipment choice.

Why on-tool dust extraction matters for silica dust control

Respirable crystalline silica is too fine to see and stays airborne for hours. Prolonged exposure can cause serious lung disease, including silicosis, which is why controlling silica dust is essential on construction, demolition and floor preparation sites (see our silica dust control solutions).

Australian WHS laws require engineering controls, such as on-tool extraction and local exhaust ventilation, for high-risk crystalline silica work. Respirators are the last line of defence, not the first.

Silica rules in Australia (2026)

Since 1 July 2024

Engineered stone ban

Work with engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs has been prohibited since 1 July 2024, and imports since 1 January 2025. Removing or repairing legacy engineered stone is allowed, but it counts as high-risk crystalline silica work and must be notified to the regulator.

High-risk silica work

Engineering controls first

For high-risk silica work, Safe Work Australia requires at least one control such as effective on-tool extraction, local exhaust ventilation or wet suppression. Respirators alone are only allowed when those controls can't be used (Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice).

From 1 December 2026

WES becomes WEL

Workplace Exposure Standards are renamed Workplace Exposure Limits nationally (Safe Work Australia).

This is general information, not legal advice. Check your obligations with your state WHS regulator.

How the Husqvarna range follows the hierarchy of control

Husqvarna's dust and slurry range is designed around three steps:

Step 1 · At the tool

Capture at the source

An H-class dust extractor connected to the tool pulls dust away before it reaches the operator.

Step 2 · In the room

Clean the room air

An air cleaner or negative air machine catches the fine dust that escapes.

Step 3 · In the line

Protect your filters

A pre-separator drops most of the debris first, so suction stays strong for longer.

Respirators sit on top as the final layer. Pair 3M respirators or Kasco respirators with a mask fit test.

How to choose the right Husqvarna dust extractor: 6 steps

1

Match airflow to the tool. Hand-held tools and small grinders: DE 110 H (225 m³/h). Hand and mid-size floor grinders: DE 120 H (380 m³/h). Large planetary grinders such as the PG 5 and shot blasters: DE 130 H (415 m³/h) or a Blastrac collector. Not sure of your tool's airflow needs? Our servicing team can check your setup.

2

Check your power. The DE range runs on single-phase 240 V. The Blastrac DC975 and DC 2-48 need three-phase 415 V.

3

Think about filter cleaning. The DE 110 H and DE 120 H clean filters at the press of a button. The DE 130 H cleans itself with Auto-Pulse, which is worth it for crews grinding all day.

4

Bag dust, don't tip it. The DE series uses Longopac® continuous bagging, so the operator seals waste without exposure to the dust. This matters for silica.

5

Add an air cleaner. Extraction catches dust at the tool. An A 25 or A 45 cleans what escapes and can run as a negative air unit for an enclosure.

6

Add a pre-separator for heavy volumes. A C 3000 or C 5500 drops around 90% of material before it reaches the filter, so suction stays strong for longer.

Husqvarna dust extractor FAQs

What does "H-class" mean on a Husqvarna dust extractor?

H-class is the highest dust class under AS/NZS 60335.2.69. An H-class machine must capture at least 99.995% of particles, which makes it the preferred choice for engineered stone, silica and other hazardous fine dust. The Husqvarna DE 110 H, DE 120 H and DE 130 H all meet this class and use EN 1822 HEPA filters.

Which Husqvarna extractor should I pair with my floor grinder?

It comes down to grinder size. Mid-size floor grinders and hand grinders run well with the DE 120 H at 380 m³/h. Large planetary machines such as the Husqvarna PG 5 need the extra airflow of the DE 130 H at 415 m³/h. Smaller hand-held tools are covered by the DE 110 H.

DE 120 H or DE 130 H: which suits full-day floor grinding?

The DE 130 H. It steps up to 3 kW and 415 m³/h, and its Auto-Pulse system cleans the filters automatically, so crews don't stop to clean them. It also adds connectivity for usage and service data. The 2.2 kW DE 120 H uses push-button filter cleaning and suits shorter or lighter jobs.

Do I need an air cleaner if I already use a dust extractor?

On most silica jobs, yes. The extractor works at the tool, pulling dust through the shroud and hose. Some fine dust still escapes into the room, and an air cleaner such as the A 25 or A 45 filters that remaining air. Using both gives you source capture plus general air cleaning.

Can a Husqvarna air cleaner create negative pressure in a work area?

Yes. Both the A 25 and A 45 can be set up to exhaust filtered air out of an enclosed area, so they work as negative air machines as well as room air cleaners. For bigger spaces, the A 45 is the stronger option, handling up to 1,000 m³/h in areas up to 45 m².

Is a pre-separator worth adding to my Husqvarna extractor?

If you produce a lot of dust, yes. A C 3000 or C 5500 fits in line before the extractor and collects around 90% of the material in its own bag. Less dust reaches the main filters, so suction stays stronger, filters last longer and you spend less on replacements.

Is M-class enough for concrete dust, or should I choose H-class?

M-class is generally the minimum for everyday concrete and masonry work. For engineered stone, or any job where you don't know exactly what the material contains, H-class gives you a higher safety margin. Our guide H-Class vs M-Class Vacuums: Which One Does Your Job Legally Need? explains the difference in detail.

How do I keep my H-class extractor's filters performing?

Check filters and seals before every job, and book an inspection and DOP test at least once a year. Swap the HEPA filter if it is damaged, fails its test, or the filter warning stays on after a clean-down. DeconSafe offers DOP testing services for H-class machines.

How does Husqvarna's Longopac® system work?

Longopac® feeds a continuous plastic tube under the extractor. When a section is full, the operator seals it off and starts a new one, so dust never has to be tipped out of a bin. That keeps silica dust contained during disposal.

Can old Husqvarna S 13, S 26 and S 36 extractors still be repaired?

Yes. Even though these models are discontinued, DeconSafe still services and repairs them and supplies replacement parts, so you can keep them working rather than buying new.

Where can I buy genuine Husqvarna filters, hoses and Longopac® bags in Australia?

DeconSafe stocks genuine Husqvarna HEPA filters, hoses and Longopac® bags to suit every machine in the range, available through our Husqvarna dust control equipment collections.

Can I order Husqvarna dust equipment if I'm outside NSW?

Yes. We dispatch from our Auburn warehouse in Sydney to every state and territory. Large three-phase dust collectors go by freight, so call (02) 8111 5858 for a delivery quote.

What's the advantage of a specialist dealer over a general tool shop?

A specialist looks after the machine for its whole life, not just the sale. As an authorised Husqvarna dust equipment dealer and service agent, DeconSafe handles fault-finding, maintenance, genuine parts, H-class inspections, DOP/PAO testing and warranty work, and keeps your purchase and service history in one place. Contractors who bought from other retailers are often referred to us for specialist servicing and warranty assessments too.
