Dust control for silica, asbestos and decontamination work

Husqvarna dust extractors and air cleaners are designed to control hazardous dust at the source, capturing airborne particles directly from grinders, saws, shot blasters and other dust-generating equipment, while helping remove residual dust from the surrounding work environment.
At DeconSafe Solutions, our range includes H-Class dust extractors (DE 110 H, DE 120 H and DE 130 H), A 25 and A 45 air cleaners, and C 3000 and C 5500 pre-separators for demanding industrial, construction and demolition applications.
We also provide servicing, repairs and replacement parts for older and discontinued Husqvarna dust extraction systems, including the S 13, S 26 and S 36, helping customers maintain their existing equipment and extend its service life.

Respirable crystalline silica and asbestos fibres are too fine to see and stay airborne for hours. Australian WHS laws require engineering controls such as on-tool extraction and local exhaust ventilation for high-risk crystalline silica work, with respirators as the last line of defence. Since 1 July 2024, engineered stone is banned, and any work on legacy stone is treated as high-risk silica work.
Husqvarna's dust and slurry range is designed around that hierarchy of control: capture at source with an H-class extractor, clean the room air with an air cleaner or negative air unit, and keep filters working longer with a pre-separator.

Husqvarna dust extractor buying guide and compliance block

How to choose the right Husqvarna dust extractor

    1. Match airflow to the tool. Hand-held tools and small grinders: DE 110 H (225 m³/h). Hand and mid-size floor grinders: DE 120 H (380 m³/h). Large planetary grinders such as the PG 5 and shot blasters: DE 130 H (415 m³/h) or a Blastrac collector.
    2. Check your power. The DE range runs on single-phase 240 V. The Blastrac DC975 and DC 2-48 need three-phase.
    3. Think about filter cleaning. The DE 110 H and DE 120 H clean filters at the press of a button. The DE 130 H cleanse itself with Auto-Pulse — worth it for crews grinding all day.
    4. Bag dust, don't tip it. The DE series uses Longopac® continuous bagging, so the operator seals waste without exposure, important for silica and asbestos.
    5. Add an air cleaner. Extraction catches dust at the tool; an A 25 or A 45 cleans what escapes and can run as a negative air unit for an enclosure.
    6. Add a pre-separator for heavy volumes. A C 3000 or C 5500 drops around 90% of material before it reaches the filter, so suction stays strong for longer.

Silica and asbestos rules in Australia (2026)

    • Engineered stone ban: work with engineered stone benchtops, panels and slabs has been prohibited since 1 July 2024, and imports since 1 January 2025. Removing or repairing legacy stone is allowed but counts as high-risk crystalline silica work and must be notified to the regulator (source).
    • Engineering controls first: for high-risk silica work, Safe Work Australia requires at least one control such as effective on-tool extraction, local exhaust ventilation or wet suppression. Respirators alone are only allowed when those can't be used (source).
    • WES becomes WEL on 1 December 2026: Workplace Exposure Standards are renamed Workplace Exposure Limits nationally. The silica limit is still under review (source).

Note:This is general information, not legal advice. Check your obligations with your state WHS regulator.

    Frequently asked questions

What is an H-class dust extractor?

An H-class dust extractor is a vacuum certified to AS/NZS 60335.2.69 for high-hazard dust, capturing at least 99.995% of particles. It is the class required for asbestos and recommended for engineered stone and other carcinogenic dusts. All three Husqvarna DE models we sell (DE 110 H, DE 120 H, DE 130 H) are H-class with EN 1822 HEPA filters.

Which Husqvarna dust extractor is right for a concrete grinder?

For hand grinders and mid-size floor grinders, choose the DE 120 H (380 m³/h); for large planetary grinders like the Husqvarna PG 5, choose the DE 130 H (415 m³/h). The DE 110 H suits hand-held power tools and small grinders.

Can Husqvarna dust extractors be used for asbestos?

Yes the DE 110 H, DE 120 H and DE 130 H are H-class, the class required for asbestos work in Australia. They must still be used under a licensed asbestos removal process, inspected regularly and DOP-tested at least annually, with waste bagged and disposed of as asbestos waste.

What is the difference between a dust extractor and an air cleaner?

A dust extractor captures dust at the tool through a hose and shroud; an air cleaner (air scrubber) filters the air in the whole room. Most silica and asbestos jobs need both: the extractor stops most dust at the source and the A 25 or A 45 cleans what escapes.

Can the Husqvarna A 45 be used as a negative air machine?

Yes. The A 25 and A 45 can run as air cleaners inside a room or as negative air machines that exhaust filtered air outside an enclosure. The A 45 moves up to 1,000 m³/h and suits spaces up to 45 m².

    What does a pre-separator do?

A pre-separator like the C 3000 or C 5500 sits between the tool and the extractor and drops around 90% of the material into its own bag. That keeps the extractor's filters cleaner, holds suction for longer and cuts filter costs.

Do I need H-class or M-class for silica?

M-class is the common minimum for general concrete and masonry work, but H-class is the safer choice for engineered stone and any job where asbestos may also be present. If you are unsure what is in the material, choose H-class.

How often should H-class filters be tested or replaced?

Inspect filters and seals before each use and have an H-class vacuum inspected and DOP-tested at least once a year. Replace the HEPA filter when it is damaged, fails testing or the filter alarm stays on after cleaning.

    What is Longopac®?

Longopac is one of the Husqvarna continuous bagging system: one long plastic tube that you seal off in sections. It lets operators bag silica or asbestos dust without opening a bin and breathing what is inside.

Do you deliver Husqvarna equipment Australia-wide?

Yes. We ship from Auburn, NSW to all states and territories. Larger three-phase collectors ship by freight call 02 8111 5858 for a quote.

Do you stock Husqvarna filters, hoses and Longopac bags?

Yes. We supply genuine Husqvarna HEPA filters, hoses and Longopac bags for every machine in this range.

Why deal with multiple businesses when you can manage everything through one specialist?

By purchasing directly from DeconSafe, your equipment purchase, servicing history, maintenance records, spare parts and warranty enquiries can all be managed through one dedicated supplier. That means less paperwork, easier equipment tracking, direct access to technical expertise and fewer complications when your machine needs attention.

Why buy Husqvarna dust extraction equipment from DeconSafe instead of through other tool retailers?

Unlike general tool retailers, DeconSafe Solutions specialises in hazardous dust extraction equipment, with dedicated technical support, servicing, repairs, equipment inspections and warranty assistance. As an authorised Husqvarna dust equipment dealer and service agent, we do more than sell machines. Our team provides hands-on technical support throughout the life cycle of equipment, including fault diagnosis, maintenance, genuine replacement parts, H-Class vacuum inspections, DOP/PAO testing and manufacturer warranty work.
